If Sandro Botticelli and Hadestown had a baby… and that baby grew up to get married in an old-world ballroom in Kansas City, it would look a lot like this styled shoot at The Century Club.

This editorial was all mood, magic, and mythology—with velvet drama, garden-grown florals, and a custom wedding invitation suite that channeled both The Birth of Venus and the underworld love story of Orpheus and Eurydice. Casual, right??

The Invitation Suite

Let’s talk paper first!! This suite was shaped—literally—like something out of a museum archive. Die-cut with ornate curves and printed on chartreuse cardstock, the main invitation featured a custom line drawing of Venus herself, draped in roses and rising from the sea. The rest of the suite? Filled with lyrical type, vintage postage, celestial icons, and a custom monogram seal to tie it all together.

You’ll also spot lines inspired by Hadestown and Renaissance poetry. Because who says you can’t be a little dramatic with your wedding paper?? (Spoiler: we fully support it.)

The Venue: A Hidden Gem in Kansas City

Formerly known as the Mark Twain Ballroom, The Century Club is an architectural dream. Vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, moody lighting—it practically begged for a romantic, editorial vibe. We brought in lush floral installations and some seriously stylish models to round out the story.

This shoot proves that you can go classic without being boring. You can lean into luxury without losing personality. And you can absolutely reference Greek mythology in your RSVP card if that’s your thing!!
